Training facility

The highly qualified camps with Jon Jones training partners in Endicott, NY and  Irving, NY  were the drive for success in the MMA. StoneHorse(Muai Thai trainer) from the Seneca Nation Indian Reservation was looking for a full use facility for his MMA and Grappling training and was referred to R.I.P.T.mma in Dunkirk Ny. Owned by Hall of Fame Karate expert Sensei Bill Matteson. R.I.P.T.mma hosts a successful MMA and Grappling program throughout the County. Our fully equipt facility includes power bags, focus pads and mits, 100lb. banana bags, belly pads, new grappling mats in our private grappling room, cage, exercise equipment(ie: jump rope ect.), full length wall of mirrors and the largest training facility in the area. Joe Pagan (certified Muai Thai Instructor under StoneHorse) and Dennis Johnson (certified Jui Juitsu / Judo Instructor) are a great partner team for the program. Mr. Joe Pagan who trained under StoneHorse for many years referred Jon Jones to R.I.P.T.mma. Joe Pagan continues to Instruct the Muai Thai and grappling art at our Dojo and shared the benefit with Jon Jones and StoneHorse. Bill Matteson and R.I.P.T.mma are a proud member of the "WNY Fight League" supported by the professionals StoneHorse and Promoter Jack Salerno.

Local awareness

MMA (mixed martial arts) has created friends and a positive success for many youth and adults who may have never had the opportunity. Thanks to Dana White (UFC President) this sport is currently promoted throughout not only the US but throughout the world.  This SPORT is mistakenly accused of being cruel and similar to dog fights. WRONG, this art is totally controlled with rules, guidelines, techniques, successful back grounds, drug testing and education within the competitors. These fighters train daily and weekly. Their daily routine consists of proper nourishment and fitness along with medical awareness. More boxing fighter professionals endure much worse life time injuries and physical issues after years of training and yet this art / sport of BOXING is and was accepted for years. The misconception needs to be rectified. R.I.P.T.mma is a supporter of the sport and will continue to strive toward the growth and acceptance in this art.

Bill Matteson is currently communicating with officials from the UFC to let them know the Matteson Kempo Karate and R.I.P.T.mma program is 100% behind them and is committed in New York State’s acceptance of this sport of Mixed Martial Arts professional. This has been a long journey but a journey always ends after completing a goal which we are nearing that mark. There are many mixed martial arts facilities in the state but few have the credibility of professional competitors through their doors as Bill Matteson from R.I.P.T.mma has. We are proud to be friends and supporters with StoneHorse and Joe Pagan as part of our training educators. If you have any comments and questions to support the MMA in New York State or to follow my progress in this journey feel free to contact Sensei Bill Matteson @ www.riptmma.com or for more information about the UFC contact  www.ufc.com .
